Project Description

Thanks to the generosity of my partner, we were able to have a break in the Lake District on a photography course, as a birthday gift.  Originally, the plan had been to wild camp for one night in order to do some night sky photography.  Unfortunately, with 93% cloud cover, this was knocked on the head, so we swapped for two days guided hiking instead.  We were guided on these days by Lathan of Mountain Explorer.

Day one, we headed to The Langdales and hiked up Sticklebarn, following the water until we reached Stickle Tarn and Pavey Ark.  We then headed around Harrison Stickle and across the ravine, before heading down from Loft Crag.  I did slip and go tumbling at one point on the way down.  Thankfully, I only received scrapes and bruises which are still healing a week later.

Day two, was just myself and Lathan due to my partner’s ankle being in pain.  This time, we took a gentler course, starting at Rydal Cave before too many tourists arrived.  We then headed up and around Loughrigg Fell, before descending down to Grasmere and following River Rothay back to the car park.

All in all, a good couple of days, though with far fewer photos taken than I was expecting.  The ones displayed here are those deemed acceptable!
